Our Philosophy
Our goal is to make apps that people love. We make the type of apps that we want to use. We're not in this to make money selling data to social media or advertising services. That's not where we want to focus our attention and our creative energies.
Practical Considerations
1. Analytics
It is very useful for us to see information about how often the apps are used, and which features of the apps are the most popular. To that end, we track the actions that people take, so that we can better understand what is most important.
For example, we may have a feature that enables someone to send a message to another app user. The analytics will show information like 200 messages were sent on Monday, or 23% of people using the app have sent a message. The useful thing to know is that people are using the message feature. What people are saying, or who they are saying it to, is none of our business.
2. Anonymous
When we do this, we will see all of the actions a person took in the app, associated with an anonymous user id in the analytics reports. We make no effort to match up this anonymous id to a real identity.
3. Internal, Confidential, & Secure
Access to the analytics data, which shows us the collective activity of 1000s of people using the apps, is restricted to employees of the company with a need to know. This information is considered confidential.
4. Server Logs
Our server logs will also record the activity of people using our apps, in a very similar way to the analytics described above. The server logs contain no personal information, only records of requests from our apps.
We Don't Sell Your Data
We will not sell any of the data described above, nor will we share it with third parties, except when required by law enforcement agencies. The data will be used only to help us understand how our apps are being used, how our systems are handling that activity (performance), and how we can make our products better.
Terms of Use
By accessing our website or mobile apps, you agree to the following terms of service, and any other applicable laws or regulations, including copyright and trademark law.
1. Use License
a. Permission is granted to use our website and mobile apps for personal, non-commercial transitory viewing only. Under this license you may not:
i. modify or copy the materials;
ii. use the materials for any commercial purpose, or for any public display (commercial or non-commercial);
iii. attempt to decompile or reverse engineer our software;
iv. remove any copyright or other proprietary notations from the materials; or
v. transfer the materials to another person or "mirror" the materials on any other server.
b. This license shall automatically terminate if you violate any of these restrictions.
2. Disclaimer
The materials on our website and mobile apps are provided on an AS-IS basis. We make no warranties, expressed or implied, and hereby disclaim and negate all other warranties including, without limitation, implied warranties or conditions of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement of intellectual property or other violation of rights.
3. Limitations
In no event shall we, or our suppliers, be liable for any damages (including, without limitation, damages for loss of data or profit, or due to business interruption) arising out of the use or inability to use the materials on our website or apps.
4. Accuracy of Materials
The information appearing in our software could include technical, typographical, or photographic errors. We do not warrant that any of the materials on its website are accurate, complete or current.
5. Modifications
We may revise these terms of service at any time without notice. By using our software you are agreeing to be bound by the then-current version of these terms of service.
6. Governing Law
These terms and conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of North Carolina and you irrevocably submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in that State or location.
